KBAUL, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has signed four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with leading aid agencies to support returnees and internally displaced families, the ministry announced in a statement on Thursday.

The agreements, worth approximately 1.1 million U.S. dollars in total, will benefit 18,360 returnees and displaced individuals, as well as 3,665 families from the local community, according to the statement.

Under the MoUs, aid agencies will provide cash assistance, distribute food and educational supplies, and create job opportunities in the provinces of western Badghis, Herat, Farah, northern Balkh, and eastern Nangarhar.

In May, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry signed five MoUs of 2.5 million dollars with five aid agencies to improve people's livelihoods in eight provinces.

The Afghan interim government continues to urge both local and international organizations to invest in the country to help address ongoing economic challenges and create employment opportunities.
