VILNIUS, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Lithuania will build communications infrastructure near the Butinge oil terminal on the Baltic Sea to enhance connectivity with allied vessels, the Ministry of National Defense said Wednesday.
A 12-hectare site in Palanga will house engineering structures and an antenna field, while additional infrastructure for allied forces will be developed in Siauliai.
According to the Baltic News Service, both sites are part of military priorities approved in 2022.
Lithuania plans to increase defense spending to 5-6 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030, allocating an extra 12-13 billion euros (13.68 to 14.82 billion U.S. dollars). ■
