NEW YORK, June 3 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 214.16 points, or 0.51 percent, to 42,519.64. The S&P 500 added 34.43 points, or 0.58 percent, to 5,970.37. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 156.34 points, or 0.81 percent, to 19,398.96.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with technology and energy leading the gainers by rising 1.48 percent and 1.11 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and real estate led the laggards by going down 0.75 percent and 0.39 percent, respectively. ■
