PRAGUE, June 3 (Xinhua) -- More than 20 people were injured in a bus accident in the eastern Czech region of Olomouc on Tuesday, according to medical rescuers and police.
The accident occurred between the villages of Zlate Hory and Mikulovice in the morning. "While driving down to the parking lot, the bus left the road and crashed into a tree," police said on social media platform X around noon.
Nearly 50 people were on board, most of them children. The regional emergency medical service confirmed that 21 children and one teacher sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Local firefighters said they were responding to the accident with the support from their Polish counterparts.
Police said that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol. The cause of the accident remains under investigation. ■
