MADRID, June 2 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski expressed confidence in his ability to continue performing at a high level but declined to set a specific end date for his career at the club.

The 36-year-old played a key role in Barcelona's La Liga and Copa del Rey double-winning season, scoring 42 goals across all competitions despite being sidelined late in the campaign with a muscle injury.

Speaking to the Barcelona-based El Mundo Deportivo newspaper, Lewandowski was asked about his future and whether he has considered extending his stay beyond the remaining year on his contract.

"I think I have enough time to decide what I want to do after next season. I can play at the same level as last season," said Lewandowski, who noted that there could always be "something else outside of football that can ultimately change what's on my mind."

"That's why I think it's too early to think about these things now. I have a little time to rest, then I also have time for preseason and to prepare well for the season. I'm sure I'll be physically fit," he explained.

Lewandowski emphasized that his age was not a limiting factor. He said his 36 years were "just numbers. I feel very good both physically and mentally," and reflected positively on the recent season.

"I think it was almost perfect. We won La Liga, the Cup, Supercup and we got to the semifinals of the Champions League and we were really close to playing in the final, but I think we have to be happy, not just because we won titles, but because of the way we played. People can see this team has a heart and that's why we have to be happy," he concluded.
