KABUL, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities inaugurated an improved seed production factory worth 1 million U.S. dollars to improve the quality of agricultural products in west Afghanistan's Herat province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Saturday.
According to the report, the factory is funded by the provincial authorities and will be capable of producing 5 tons of grain per hour and creating jobs for thousands of local people.
Meanwhile, three water supply networks worth 17.6 million afghani (0.25 million U.S. dollars) were inaugurated in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province, the report said.
The Afghan interim government plans to launch more development projects across the war-ravaged country to address economic challenges and create more jobs. ■
