KABUL, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Construction of a ring road has begun in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of east Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, the state-owned Bakhtar news agency reported on Saturday.
The municipal authorities will fund the project at an estimated cost of 3 billion afghani (about 43 million U.S. dollars), the report said.
The report added that the project will facilitate transportation and local agricultural products to reach the market.
The Afghan interim government plans to create jobs for people by launching small- and medium-sized development projects in different provinces. ■
