VIENTIANE, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Thunderstorms and heavy rain will affect many parts of Laos, with the weather bureau warning the public, especially in northern provinces, to stay cautious of continuous rain that may cause flash floods and landslides.
Many parts of Laos are forecast to experience thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain through Sunday, according to a report issued by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
In the north, thunderstorms with strong winds are expected, followed by light to moderate rainfall over the weekend.
Central and southern regions will remain hot throughout the week, with scattered thunderstorms and strong winds in some areas. The Bolaven Plateau will see thunderstorms, heavy rain, and occasional strong winds.
Meanwhile, in Lao capital Vientiane, hot weather is expected to persist, along with thunderstorms, rain, and occasional strong winds.
Residents and local authorities are advised to remain cautious, especially in northern provinces where prolonged rain could lead to flash floods and landslides. Everyone should be prepared for weather extremes and keep track of forecasts, the weather bureau said. ■
