NEW YORK, May 28 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.35 percent to 99.874 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1294 U.S. dollars from 1.1337 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3470 dollars from 1.3511 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 144.84 Japanese yen, higher than 144.26 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8270 Swiss francs from 0.8272 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3830 Canadian dollars from 1.3795 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 9.6504 Swedish Kronor from 9.6103 Swedish Kronor. ■
