TEHRAN, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran has executed an individual convicted of espionage against the country on behalf of Israel, the Mizan news agency of the Iranian judiciary reported on Wednesday.

The man, identified as Pedram Madani, was arrested in Tehran in 2020 on charges of "espionage on behalf of Israel's intelligence agency Mossad" and "acquiring wealth through illegitimate ways in the form of receiving foreign currency cash in Europe (euros) and cryptocurrency (Bitcoin)," the report said, without specifying the date of the execution.

According to the report, the convict attended Mossad's training courses, travelled between Iran and Germany constantly, and sought to recruit individuals and collect and transfer classified information to a Mossad officer through secure communication systems.

The convict sought to provide classified information to the Mossad officer on the places and buildings in Iran where infrastructure facilities and equipment were stationed, and had met the Israeli officer on several occasions in different countries, including in the Israeli embassy in Brussels, the report said.

He was executed after undergoing a complete criminal procedure, it added.
