BEIRUT, May 27 (Xinhua) -- A Hezbollah member was killed Tuesday in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese sources.
The drone strike targeted a motorcycle in the village of Yater in Bint Jbeil District, resulting in one death, the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, affiliated with the Health Ministry, said in a statement.
A Lebanese security source told Xinhua that "the victim was a Hezbollah member from Yater, named Nabil Balaghi."
The strike came amid an ongoing ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel, brokered by the United States and France, which has been in effect since Nov. 27, 2024. The deal ended more than a year of clashes between the two sides triggered by the war in Gaza.
Despite the agreement, the Israeli military continues to carry out occasional strikes in Lebanon. ■
