NEW YORK, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.51 percent to 99.521 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1337 U.S. dollars from 1.1381 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3511 dollars from 1.3562 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 144.26 Japanese yen, higher than 142.77 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8272 Swiss francs from 0.8208 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3795 Canadian dollars from 1.3736 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 9.6103 Swedish Kronor from 9.5163 Swedish Kronor. ■
