KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has announced that its net profit rose 4 percent year-on-year to 2.59 billion ringgit (620 million U.S. dollars) in the first quarter of 2025.
The bank said in a statement that the profit growth was underpinned by a 1.8-percent growth in its net operating income to 7.71 billion ringgit.
"The global economic outlook remains uncertain. Nevertheless, we expect continued growth in the markets that we operate," the bank's president and group chief executive officer Khairussaleh Ramli said.
According to him, the bank continues to strengthen its position across ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations), particularly in trade, investment and cross-border connectivity. (1 ringgit equals 0.24 U.S. dollars) ■
