JAKARTA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency (BNN) aims to significantly reduce the country's narcotics prevalence rate to 1.6 percent by 2029, said BNN head Marthinus Hukom on Tuesday.
The target is lower than the 1.73 percent and 1.7 percent goals set for 2024 and 2025, respectively, Hukom noted.
He emphasized that a meeting was held last week to prepare the agency's strategic plan from 2024 to 2029, focusing on reducing drug abuse prevalence.
"The 2025-2029 BNN Strategic Plan is designed in line with the National Medium-term Development Plan and other national policies," he said.
According to Hukom, the drafting meeting was a crucial step in shaping BNN's internal policies for the next five years, particularly in preventing and eradicating narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking. ■
