TOKYO -- The average retail prices of rice sold at supermarkets across Japan rose to a new high, reaching 4,285 yen (about 29.97 U.S. dollars) per 5 kilograms in the week ending May 18, official data showed Monday.
This marks a 17-yen increase from the previous week and the highest price since comparable records began in March 2022, according to data released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. (Japan-Rice-Price)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia has welcomed seven newborn Mekong Irrawaddy dolphins so far this year, bringing the total population of the aquatic mammals to 111, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) said in a press release on Monday.
The latest newborn dolphin calf, about two days old, was spotted on Sunday at the Kampi dolphin pool in Kratie province's Preaek Prasab district by a team of researchers from the Fisheries Administration and the World Wide Fund for Nature. (Cambodia-Mekong Dolphin)

JAKARTA -- Indonesian security authorities have seized around two tons of crystal meth in the waters of Riau Island province, claiming it the biggest illicit drug bust in the country.
