BUENOS AIRES, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Franco Zapiola struck late as Platense reached the final of Argentina's Primera Division Apertura tournament on Sunday with a 1-0 victory at San Lorenzo.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when San Lorenzo failed to deal with a Vicente Taborda corner, allowing Zapiola to rifle home a first-time effort from eight yards.
The result at El Nuevo Gasometro means Platense will meet Huracan in the final in Santiago del Estero on June 1.
"I usually wait outside the box in those situations but I decided to go in and managed to score which was an incredible feeling," Zapiola said after the semifinal.
"Now we have an unbelievable opportunity. We have to keep our focus and stick together so that as a team we can give it our best shot [against Huracan]," the 24-year-old midfielder added.
Huracan advanced to the title decider by beating Independiente on penalties in the other semifinal on Saturday. ■
