KABUL, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities started construction on six development projects in east Afghanistan's Khost province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Friday.
With the cost of 55 million Afghanis (over 785,000 U.S. dollars), the projects, including water canals, retaining walls and dams, will improve the living conditions of thousands of people in the province, the report said.
Meanwhile, in western Afghanistan's Herat province, authorities have also launched various projects, including \a new hospital, the report added.
The Afghan interim government plans to launch more development projects across the war-ravaged country to address economic challenges and create jobs. ■
