NEW YORK, May 21 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 816.80 points, or 1.91 percent, to 41,860.44. The S&P 500 sank 95.85 points, or 1.61 percent, to 5,844.61. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 270.07 points, or 1.41 percent, to 18,872.64.
Ten of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with real estate and health leading the laggards by losing 2.63 percent and 2.37 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services bucked the trend by rising 0.67 percent. ■
