HANOI, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam will observe a two-day national mourning on Saturday and Sunday for former president Tran Duc Luong, Vietnam News Agency reported on Thursday.
Respect-paying ceremonies will be held on these two days in the capital Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and his hometown in the central province of Quang Ngai.
The burial ceremony is scheduled to take place in Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province on Sunday.
During the national mourning period, national flags will be flown at half-mast at all government offices and public places. Recreational and entertainment activities will be suspended nationwide.
Tran Duc Luong passed away on Tuesday at the age of 88, following a period of illness. ■
