HANOI, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Former Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong passed away on Tuesday at the age of 88 after a period of illness, Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday.
Luong was born in the central province of Quang Ngai in 1937. He served as the Vietnamese president from September 1997 to June 2006. ■
