ISLAMABAD, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's seafood exports increased by over 8 percent in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year 2024-25, compared to the same period of the last fiscal year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has said.

The seafood exports were recorded at 370.891 million U.S. dollars in July-April of the ongoing fiscal year (July 2024 to June 2025), as against the exports of 342.154 million dollars in July-April of fiscal year 2023-24, showing growth of 8.40 percent, the PBS figures showed.

On a year-on-year basis, the seafood exports surged by 10.14 percent to 47.985 million U.S. dollars in April 2025 from 43.568 million dollars in April 2024, the data showed.

The PBS said that the seafood exports growth reflects rising global demand and enhanced processing and export capabilities within the domestic seafood industry.

Economic experts in the country believe that the positive trend is being witnessed owing to improved aquaculture practices, favorable international market conditions, and the government's support for export-oriented fisheries.
