AMMAN, May 19 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan met on Monday with visiting Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations, with a focus on coordinating medical treatment for sick children from the Gaza Strip.

According to a Royal Court statement, the king reiterated the need to end the war in Gaza, ensure humanitarian aid delivery, and de-escalate tensions in the region, expressing appreciation for Malta's role in supporting peace efforts and emphasizing Jordan's commitment to working with partners toward these goals.

The king and the prime minister witnessed the signing of a bilateral framework cooperation agreement, along with three memoranda of understanding in the fields of water and energy, tourism, and archiving and language exchange.

On the same day, Abela also held a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart, Jaafar Hassan, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties, especially in trade, education, and technology, as well as advancing potential cooperation in pharmaceutical and future industries.
