SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi group announced Monday that it will start a campaign of targeting the Israeli port of Haifa on the Mediterranean coast, in response to the Israeli ongoing offensive and blockade on Gaza, warning commercial ships to keep away.

TRIPOLI -- Libya's eastern-based House of Representatives convened a formal session on Monday to begin discussions on forming a new unified government, with the aim of paving the way for long-delayed presidential and parliamentary elections, a parliamentary spokesperson said.
Nominations for the post of prime minister will be accepted over the next two days, Abdullah Blehig, the parliament's spokesperson, said in a statement. Candidates will then be asked to present their policy programs and work plans before lawmakers hold a session to select a new prime minister. TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that the ongoing indirect talks with the United States "can play an effective role in ensuring peace, stability, and calm" in the West Asia region, Iran's official news agency IRNA reported.
He made the remarks in an address to reporters on the sidelines of an international forum in Tehran while elaborating on his trilateral meeting a day earlier with his Omani and Qatari counterparts. (Iran-US-Nuclear Talks)

KHARTOUM -- Chairman of Sudan's ruling Transitional Sovereign Council (TSC) Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, also the army chief, on Monday issued a constitutional decree appointing Kamil Idris as the new prime minister, the TSC's media office said in a statement.
Idris's appointment comes nearly three weeks after Al-Burhan named Dafallah Al-Haj Ali as acting prime minister and cabinet affairs minister. (Sudan-PM-Appointment) ■
