ISLAMABAD, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Two soldiers and nine terrorists were killed in three separate operations in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the military said on Monday.
The security forces conducted intelligence-based operations in Lakki Marwat, Bannu and North Waziristan districts of KP, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement.
During the operation in Lakki Marwat, five terrorists were killed during a clash between security forces and terrorists, said the statement.
In another operation, two terrorists were neutralized in Bannu district, it said.
In the third encounter that took place in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district of the province, two terrorists were killed, the ISPR said, adding that two soldiers lost their lives during an intense exchange of fire.
Sanitization operation is being carried out to eliminate the presence of other terrorists from the area. ■
