ROME, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Leo XIV was officially inaugurated as the pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church on Saturday.
On May 8, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost of the United States was elected the 267th pope of the Roman Catholic Church during the papal conclave. He has taken the papal name Leo XIV.
His predecessor, Pope Francis, passed away on April 21. ■
