TUNIS, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian security forces have arrested a suspect allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the capital Tunis, seizing 127 blocks of cannabis, according to a statement released by the Tunisian General Directorate of National Security on Thursday.
The suspect was apprehended in the seaside town of Gammarth, north of the capital, where authorities also confiscated an undisclosed amount of money with suspected ties to illegal activities, the directorate said in a statement.
Prosecutors have authorized the detention of the suspect, who is believed to be linked to an international network, it added, without specifying the timing of the operation or the identity of the suspect.
The Tunisian government has taken a strong stance against drug trafficking. Recent nationwide operations have led to the arrest of hundreds of suspects. ■
