MADRID, May 16 (Xinhua) -- It was the early hours of Friday morning when a happy FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick faced the press after the 2-0 win away to Espanyol that ensured his side this season's La Liga title.
Second-half goals from Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez - the first a trademark cut inside and curling shot from Yamal - gave Barca the win that leaves it seven points clear of Real Madrid with just two matches to play.
Speaking to the press, Flick celebrated the title, but was already looking ahead to next season.
"There will be five or six weeks off for the players, and it's important to rest. I'm very proud of the team, a team where everyone works hard."
"The level has been good, but we have the potential for more," added the German, who highlighted the unity in a squad packed with youngsters such as Yamal, Lopez, Alejandro Balde and Pau Cubarsi.
"I feel like we're like a family. The club is doing very well, with passion, attitude and mentality. This has helped me to achieve my goals. And of course, the atmosphere is fantastic. Everyone takes care of everyone, and this is perhaps what's unique about it; I've never experienced it before," said Flick.
"It's great to see how they've improved. Everything depends on attitude, and we always think positively," continued the coach, who stressed that "at Barca you have to win titles."
The coach commented that he had been disappointed after losing the Champions League semifinal to Inter Milan, but after winning the Spanish Super Cup, Copa del Rey and La Liga, "It's time to celebrate," he concluded. ■
