TUNIS, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 1.6 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, mainly driven by growth in the agricultural sector, the Tunisian National Institute of Statistics (INS) said Thursday in its quarterly publication.
The agricultural sector grew by 7 percent due to rainfall after years of drought, the publication showed.
The industrial sector rose by 0.5 percent, mainly driven by construction and public works performance, whereas the services sector increased by 1.1 percent, mainly driven by hotels, restaurants and cafes, the publication showed.
The GDP growth in the first quarter of 2025, though much faster than that in the same period last year, which came at 0.3 percent, marks the slowest in the recent three quarters, as that in the third quarter and fourth quarter of 2024 recorded 1.8 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively, the publication showed. ■
