NEW YORK, May 14 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 89.37 points, or 0.21 percent, to 42,051.06. The S&P 500 added 6.03 points, or 0.10 percent, to 5,892.58. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 136.72 points, or 0.72 percent, to 19,146.81.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with health and materials leading the laggards by losing 2.31 percent and 0.96 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and technology led the gainers by adding 1.58 percent and 0.96 percent, respectively. ■
