PHNOM PENH, May 14 (Xinhua) -- CoolApp, Cambodia's homegrown chat-based social networking platform, has recorded almost half a million downloads on iOS, Android, and desktop devices, a founder said on Wednesday.
Lim Chea Vutha, who is also the chief executive officer of CoolApp, said the app features end-to-end encryption, ensuring "the highest level of security for chats, voice calls, and video calls".
CoolApp is Cambodia's first chat app and social network built to foreign standards such as Telegram or WhatsApp.
Vutha said the significant rise in the number of CoolApp users came after Cambodia's Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen urged government departments, local authorities, armed forces and people to use CoolApp to secure national security and personal data. ■
