NEW YORK, May 12 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Monday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 1.45 percent to 101.788 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1089 U.S. dollars from 1.1259 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3180 dollars from 1.3315 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 148.34 Japanese yen, higher than 145.27 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8457 Swiss francs from 0.8311 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3994 Canadian dollars from 1.3930 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 9.8166 Swedish Kronor from 9.7062 Swedish Kronor. ■
