TASHKENT, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan welcomed more than 1 million foreign tourists in a single month for the first time, the country's tourism committee said.
"In April 2025, more than 1 million foreign tourists visited Uzbekistan," the committee said in a statement on Wednesday, attributing the record single-month visits to consistent reforms carried out in the tourism sector, in particular the policy of openness and strengthening of international cooperation.
Uzbekistan plans to continue developing the tourism sector, expand the range of services that meet international standards, and strengthen its position as a competitive and attractive tourist destination, it said.
Uzbekistan has been exploring its tourism potential and has developed new historical routes to attract domestic and foreign tourists, the committee said last year. ■
