ZAGREB, May 7 (Xinhua) -- The Croatian government on Wednesday established an interdepartmental commission dedicated to the development and strengthening of national defense capabilities and the domestic defense industry, the Croatian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The commission will be chaired by Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ivan Anusic serving as deputy chair. Other members include representatives from various government ministries, reflecting the commission's cross-sectoral nature, according to the statement.
The commission will be tasked with overseeing the use of multiple funding sources for strategically significant defense projects, as well as analyzing and coordinating investments aimed at enhancing Croatia's defense capabilities and industrial capacities.
In addition, the commission will evaluate the financial implications of increased defense spending in the country.
This initiative represents a strategic effort to bolster Croatia's long-term defense readiness while promoting industrial growth and technological innovation in the sector, the statement added. ■
