NEW YORK, May 5 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 98.60 points, or 0.24 percent, to 41,218.83. The S&P 500 sank 36.29 points, or 0.64 percent, to 5,650.38. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 133.49 points, or 0.74 percent, to 17,844.24.
Ten of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with energy and consumer discretionary leading the laggards by losing 2.02 percent and 1.32 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, consumer staples bucked the trend by rising 0.02 percent. ■
