JAKARTA, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's annual inflation rose to 1.95 percent in April 2025, up from 1.03 percent the previous month, Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said on Friday.

Pudji Ismartini, deputy for distribution and services statistics at BPS, attributed the inflation surge partly to rising gold prices, which increased by 10.52 percent and have climbed for 20 consecutive months in line with global trends.

"Jewelry-related gold inflation in April was the highest since September 2020," Pudji said during a press conference.

In addition to gold, higher food and tobacco prices also put pressure on April's inflation.

Core inflation, which reflects long-term price trends, stood at 2.50 percent for the month, slightly up from 2.48 percent in March.
