NEW YORK, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.23 percent to 99.468 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.1348 U.S. dollars from 1.1382 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3339 U.S. dollars from 1.3402 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 142.77 Japanese yen, higher than 142.29 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8229 Swiss francs from 0.8242 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3785 Canadian dollars from 1.3846 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 9.6559 Swedish kronor from 9.6292 Swedish kronor. ■
