TASHKENT, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan has risen 20 percent since the beginning of this year, the press service of the Uzbek president announced on Saturday.
According to a statement from the press service, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed ways to step up bilateral relations of friendship, strategic partnership and alliance during a telephone conversation on Saturday.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the ongoing productive cooperation within the Year of Economic Cooperation framework, said the statement, adding that active projects are underway in fields ranging from automotive manufacturing, textiles, electrical engineering, energy and agriculture to tourism and other sectors.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional agenda and reviewed the schedule of upcoming multilateral events. ■
