VALLETTA, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Malta's Prime Minister Robert Abela on Thursday announced the launch of new regulations to support innovative startups.

Addressing the opening session of the European Union's Startups Summit, hosted in Malta for the second year running, Abela said the Malta startup framework regulations will lead to the setting up of the national startup one-stop-shop.

Companies meeting the eligibility criteria that define a startup will be able to access purposely-developed support.

"These new regulations are designed to provide necessary clarity and support to the startup community," he said.

Malta Enterprise supported over 190 startups in the last five years, creating hundreds of high-quality jobs across various sectors, according to Abela.

Over 2,000 innovators, investors, and leaders from across Europe and beyond are currently in Malta for the EU-Startups Summit 2025.
