NEW YORK, April 23 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased by 0.94 percent to 99.844 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1322 U.S. dollars from 1.1426 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3265 U.S. dollars from 1.3336 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 143.45 Japanese yen, higher than 141.50 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8297 Swiss francs from 0.8189 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3887 Canadian dollars from 1.3815 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 9.7032 Swedish kronor from 9.5556 Swedish kronor. ■
