TOKYO, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended lower Wednesday, as semiconductor-related issues fell after U.S. chip giant Nvidia Corp.'s announcement of hefty expenses.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended down 347.14 points, or 1.01 percent, from Tuesday at 33,920.40.

The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 15.32 points, or 0.61 percent, lower at 2,498.03.

On the stock market, heavyweight chip shares lost ground. Nikkei heavyweight Advantest, seen as a major Nvidia supplier, shed 6.5 percent while selling spread to other chip-related shares such as Tokyo Electron.
