NEW YORK, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar softened in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.04 percent to 102.912 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.0964 U.S. dollars from 1.0951 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.2803 U.S. dollars from 1.2790 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 147.45 Japanese yen, higher than 146.39 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.8549 Swiss francs from 0.8480 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.4116 Canadian dollars from 1.4238 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 9.9452 Swedish kronor from 10.0007 Swedish kronor. ■
