MOSTAR, BiH, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The 26th International Economy Fair Mostar opened here Tuesday, in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), drawing around 800 exhibitors from over 30 countries. It is one of the major trade fairs in the Western Balkans.

The fair runs from April 8 to 12, showcasing companies from sectors such as agriculture, tourism, gastronomy, construction, IT and others, with participants coming from Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Montenegro, and others.

Italy is this year's partner country. It was announced during the opening that direct flights from Mostar to Rome, Milan, Palermo, Naples, and Bari will be launched starting in May, further boosting tourism and business exchanges between the two nations.

Political leaders from BiH and neighboring countries attended the opening ceremony, underlining the fair's role in strengthening regional cooperation and accelerating European integration for the Western Balkans.

Launched in 1997, the Mostar Fair has grown into Bosnia's largest trade exhibition, playing a vital role in the country's economic outreach.
