ISLAMABAD, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday extended condolences over the loss of lives and damage to property caused by a powerful earthquake in Myanmar, according to the Prime Minister's Office.
"On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, we extend our condolences to the government and people of Myanmar on the tragic loss of precious lives and widespread destruction caused by the earthquake," Sharif said during his visit to the Myanmar embassy in Pakistan.
The prime minister emphasized that in the hour of grief, Pakistan stood with Myanmar in a spirit of friendship and compassion.
"The courage and resilience of the people of Myanmar in the face of adversity is admirable," he said while expressing his solidarity for their swift recovery and rebuilding in the days to come.
On the occasion, Ambassador of Myanmar to Pakistan Wunna Han conveyed his best wishes for the people of Pakistan, from the Myanmar leadership.
He also thanked the premier for the visit and also for the relief goods provided by Pakistan for those affected by the earthquake in Myanmar. ■
