VIENTIANE, April 1 (Xinhua) -- The Lao government has approved the Vientiane 450 Smart City Development Project, aimed at transforming the Lao capital into a modern and smart city.
The project will cover 2,372 hectares of land in Saysettha and Hadxayfong districts. It aims to build a vibrant economic zone that attracts trade, investment, and job opportunities for local residents, according to Socio-Economic News on Tuesday.
The development will also feature a financial center, industrial zones, and technological innovations, contributing to Laos' economic growth and generating sustainable government revenue.
This initiative aims to transform the Lao capital into a city with modern infrastructure, green development, and a special economic zone with significant potential.
The project seeks to position Vientiane as a hub for finance, trade, transportation, and innovation, meeting international standards. ■
