NEW DELHI, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Up to 50 armed rebels called Naxals surrendered before security forces in India's central state of Chhattisgarh on Sunday, confirmed a senior police officer.
Among those who surrendered were 14 Naxals who carried a cumulative award of 6.8 million Indian rupees (around 79,476 U.S. dollars) on their head.
The federal government had vowed to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026. ■
