BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- China has voiced staunch opposition to the British government's "Six-monthly Report on Hong Kong," which it said interferes in China's internal affairs and smears human rights and the rule of law in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said here Friday that the HKSAR has restored order and is set to thrive, noting its security, democracy and people’s freedom and rights are under better protection, and it enjoys more promising prospects for development.
It has presented the world with a safer, freer, more open and more predictable business environment, with the total number of non-local companies registered in Hong Kong reaching a record high, Guo said at a daily news briefing.
He urged certain people to respect China's sovereignty and the rule of law in the HKSAR, cease making irresponsible remarks on the trial of judicial cases in the HKSAR, and stop being a haven to the people seeking to destabilize Hong Kong. ■
