NEW DELHI, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Indian security personnel killed at least three armed rebels called "Naxals" in the central state of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, confirmed the local police.
The encounter between the security personnel and the armed rebels took place along the borders of Bijapur and Dantewada districts of the state's Bastar region.
A large amount of arms and ammunition was recovered from the place of encounter. The exchange of fire began in the morning when a contingent of security personnel went to launch an anti-Naxals operation.
Last week, 26 rebels were gunned down after a major encounter along the Bijapur-Dantewada border. ■
