BAGHDAD, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held a phone conversation on Monday evening with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss regional tensions and bilateral relations.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon against the backdrop of Israel's violation of ceasefires, in addition to the U.S. attacks on Yemen, according to a statement from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
Araghchi expressed his concern over these developments and briefed Hussein on the content of U.S. President Donald Trump's letter to the Iranian leadership, affirming that the Iranian government will respond to the letter, the statement said.
For his part, Hussein expressed hope that the exchange of letters would contribute to opening channels for dialogue between the two sides.
The two ministers also discussed bilateral relations and stressed the need for continued communication and joint coordination, the statement noted. ■
