As one of only two permanent ice caps on Earth, the Greenland Ice Sheet preserves the planet's climate history spanning tens of thousands of years. However, due to the impact of climate change, the Greenland Ice Sheet is melting at an alarming rate, approaching an irreversible "tipping point."
