NEW DELHI, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The annual festival of colors, Holi, was celebrated across India with much gaiety and fervor, with people splashing dry and wet colors on each other and exchanging festival greetings.

Primarily a two-day festival, it ended on Friday as most Indian states observed a holiday during the day on account of the festival.

It is believed that the festival of Holi has been celebrated for many centuries. It is the time when people in India come together to celebrate the arrival of spring season, the victory of Good over Evil, and the overall joy of life.
